Known for her extreme vocal range and as one of the great proponents of the exotica movement, Yma attained such monikers as &quot;Nightingdale of the Andes&quot; and &quot;the Peruvian songbird&quot; after gaining commercial appeal with her many contributions to the world of cinema. <a href="http://www.kcrw.com/music/programs/cl">Tom Schnabel</a>, our musical genius, was asked to contribute to <a href="http://www.theworld.org/taxonomy_by_date/2/20081103">PRI&#39;s The World</a> earlier this morning as they honored Yma Sumac in their &quot;Global Hit&quot; segment at the end of their program.
